Stonepeak New England Power
Stonepeak New England Power LLC (“SNEP”) is currently one of the largest power generation portfolios in New England. SNEP consists of four separate peaking power units providing a total of over 1,600 MW of aggregate generating capacity located in ISO New England (“ISO-NE”). Canal 1 & 2 are operational oil and natural gas-fired power generation facilities with 1,112 MW of nameplate capacity, located in Sandwich, Massachusetts. Co-located with Canal 1&2, Canal 3 is a newly constructed 333 MW peaking unit capable of running on either natural gas or ultra-low sulfur diesel. Bucksport, acquired in 2019 as an add-on to the Canal portfolio, is a 175 MW dual fuel simple cycle unit located in Bucksport, Maine. Together, the four units provide ISO-NE with increasingly important peaking electric and ancillary services that serve to complement the rise of renewables and other intermittent generation in the region.
